A Research and Critical Review of The Opinions of Scholars of The Subcontinent about Bid’at
Abstract
To comprehend the essence of Bid’at is crucial to grasp the distinction between Bid’at (literal and Shari'i). The acts not found in Khair al-Quroon are deemed Bid’at (innovation) literally, yet not necessarily from a Shariah perspective. Shariah considers bid'at when any practice is outside acts of Khair al-Quroon and integrated into the faith, seen as meritorious, while those who abstain are criticized. Thus, complete innovation denotes that every Shariah-based innovation leads astray. The interpretation of bid'at varies among Masalik Deoband, Barelvi, and Ahl al- Ḥadith and can be delineated through the points that have been discussed in the article.
